You can learn how to affect the legislative process from wherever you are, with whatever free time you have. You don't have to be an expert OR have loads of free time to make a difference.
This year, it will be more accessible than ever, from the comfort of your home via Zoom.
We will hear from:
- Secretary of the State, Denise Merrill, on the status of early voting and no excuse absentee voting proposed legislation
- John M. Bailey II, LWVCT Legislative Lobbyist and Monitor
- State Senator Mae Flexer, Co-Chair of Government Elections and Administration Committee
- Michael Brandi, CT State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC) Executive Director and General Counsel
- Joan Twiggs, LWVCT People Powered Fair Maps Champion
We will introduce Action Steps for the 2022 General Assembly Session and tips to organize effectively for advocacy in 2022 and beyond.
LWVCT’s 2022 Legislative Priorities Are:
1. Protect and Expand Voters’ Rights and Access. We must ensure the Early Voting Referendum is passed November 2022.
2. Support the Citizens’/Clean Election Program and Campaign Finance Reform.
3. Ensure Transparency. The public must have easy access to the workings of government via CT-N, universal broadband access, and active distribution of the information necessary for an informed citizenship.
4. Reverse Climate Change. The American Rescue Plan Act Funds must be used to reduce harm and improve our air, land, and water.
