Time Range For Action Alert:
Apr 11 2022 to Apr 15 2022
We need clean air and clean electricity generation in Connecticut. Neighboring states are far ahead in making the transition to electric vehicles and decarbonizing the electric grid. With fewer than 20 days left to the legislative session, let Senate leadership know you want them to bring these two bills to the floor for a vote:

S.B. 10 An Act Concerning Climate Change Mitigation
S.B. 4 An Act Concerning The Connecticut Clean Air Act

Connecticut deserves clean energy and clean air: it improves our health, protects our environment, and reduces climate change impacts.

Despite having the Global Warming Solutions Act 2008, Connecticut’s policymakers and electricity sector need a shared goal for fully transitioning the state away from relying on natural gas and oil to power its electric grid.  While Connecticut has already made significant progress in decarbonizing its grid, we must accelerate that process to do our part to mitigate climate change and make up for slower progress in other sectors of our economy.

What can be done?

S.B. 10 An Act Concerning Climate Change Mitigation requires the state to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from generation of electricity.  This bill would codify the goal of decarbonizing the electric grid by 2040.

S.B. 4 An Act Concerning the Connecticut Clean Air Act.  The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse emissions in Connecticut.  This bill would reduce carbon emission by expanding public and private use of electric vehicles in Connecticut.

Subject: Support SB 10 and SB 4

Dear Senators Looney and Duff:

I am writing to urge you to bring S.B. 10 An Act Concerning Climate Change Mitigation to the floor for a vote.  SB 10 requires the state to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from generation of electricity.  This bill would codify the goal of decarbonizing the electric grid by 2040.

Also we ask for your support for S.B. 4 An Act Concerning the Connecticut Clean Air Act. The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse emissions in the state.  This bill would reduce carbon emission by expanding public and private utilization of electric vehicles in Connecticut to protect human health, especially our young people, and the environment.  Together, both bills would make significant advances in addressing climate impacts in Connecticut.

Thank you,
