On Behalf of Chair Jennifer Bradley and the Alachua County Legislative Delegation,

We are writing to remind everyone that the Alachua County Legislative Delegation Hearing is to be held on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Joseph W. Fordyce Building (R-01) on the campus of Santa Fe State College at 3000 NW 83 Street in Gainesville. As always, we are grateful to the College for their hospitality.

Attached is the agenda set for the Hearing. Those who did not sign up, yet still wish to appear: Anyone in attendance can fill out an appearance card and they will be afforded time following the completion of the agenda, time permitting.

The agenda should help those who are appearing gauge the best time for them to arrive – should you arrive past your slot on the agenda, notify a staff member upon your arrival and we will accommodate.

Those who have yet to submit budget requests or have yet to fill out the proper forms, please note that because the Legislative Session begins earlier this year, on January 9, 2024, deadlines for Legislative and Budget requests have been moved up, with the House deadline for submissions being November 14th.

The forms for both the Senate and the House can be found on the House Appropriation Projects website located at https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Appropriations/projects.aspx, and the Senate Appropriation Projects website located at https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Appropriations/2024 along with guidance to filling it out and answers to frequently asked questions.

  • For those who have not already submitted requests and wish to make an appropriation request for a specific project to be considered, inquiries and submissions can still be emailed to HD022 [at] myfloridahouse.gov with the subject line entitled “Appropriations Request”
  • Other items to be aware of:
    • It is customary to allot 5 minutes for governmental entities and 3 minutes for members of the public, with extra time for questions as needed.
    • If you have not already submitted backup material that you wish to distribute, please have at least 5 copies, one for each Delegation member. It is best to give those materials to staff to distribute before it is your turn so as to not cut into your time.

Please note that these Hearings are critical to the Legislative process and each Delegation Member is grateful for the important education, insight, and perspectives they garner from all of the presenters. As such, we appreciate everyone’s participation in preparing to keep their presentation within the timeframes allotted so that every voice can be heard.
