Students in grades 3-12 who live in or go to school in Greenwich are encouraged to enter the 5th Annual LWV Greenwich Student "Essay" Contest between now and May 1st (note: this has been updated from April 24).
Choose your grade category on the "Essay" Contest page and follow the instructions.
All winners will be given two tickets to be honored at the LWV Greenwich Annual Dinner, at the Riverside Yacht Club on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024.
The LWV Greenwich would like to inspire your creativity with a simple prompt, “Why Vote?”, and a broad range of ways for telling us why. We have put together a playlist of categories for you to demonstrate your creative talents through poetry, writing, podcasting, art, video, and more. Dive in and make a case for voting, doing so in the way that best suits your passions and skills! To keep it equitable, we again have three age categories, and prizes to boot.
A panel of LWV Greenwich members will evaluate each submission. The judges will not see whose submission they are evaluating. A top essay for each age category will be selected.
The First Prize Winner in the 9th through 12th grade category will receive a $500 college scholarship. Two Runner-Up winners in the 9th through 12th grade category will each receive a $250 college scholarship.
The 6th through 8th grade winners will receive a $100 gift certificate to Diane's Books.
The 3rd through 5th grade winners will receive a $100 gift certificate to Athena Books.
All winning submissions will be published on the LWV Greenwich website and publicized in local Greenwich press.
