Joining the League is a great way to play an active role in your community and in our democracy!

When you join the League of Women Voters, you are joining our local League (LWVDV), as well as the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWV), the League of Women Voters of California (LWVC), and the League of Women Voters of the Bay Area (LWVBA)! Your annual dues payment will be shared with the national, state and local Leagues - 33% of your dues payment will go to LWVUS, 47% will go to LWVC, and 20% will go LWVDV.

To join the League, click the Join/Renew button below to access the League of Women Voters Membership portal, known as ChapterSpot.

Membership Dues:
  • Individual members: $75 per year is the recommended amount, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).
  • You can add a second member ($150 total for both recommended, $40 for both minimum), but they each will need to provide a unique email address.
  • Life members: In appreciation of their dedication to democracy, Life Members (members for more than 50 years) are exempt from membership dues.
Making Payments:
  • The preferred payment option is ACH (electronic bank transfer), which minimizes fees. You’ll need your financial institution's routing number and your account number.
  • You also have the option to pay by credit or debit card
  • If are not comfortable making payments online, please email the LWVDV Treasuer (treasurer [at] lwvdv.org">treasurer [at] lwvdv.org) or call (925) 283-2235 for iinstructions on how to pay by check.
  • You will receive an email receipt for your payment. 
  • ONLY the local League portion of the membership dues will be tax-deductible.The email receipt will show the 20% of your dues going to our local League and can serve as your tax-receipt. 
  • Keep things simple by automatically renewing each year!  Just select auto renewal in ChapterSpot when you are paying your dues.
  • Your membership dues payment will show up as three transactions on your account — one each to LWVDV, LWVC, and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of all three!
Making Donations: 
Please donate
Do you want to make an extra donation in addition to paying your dues? Thanks - we appreciate it!
  • You will have the option to make a direct donation to LWVDV on ChapterSpot when paying your dues, or you can donate directly to us on the Donate page on our website. (If you want 100% of your donation to go to LWVDV, do not choose to pay more than the $75 recommended dues amount. Instead, make a direct donation to LWVDV.)
  • All donations to LWVDV are fully tax-deductible, whether made on ChapterSpot or directly from our site.

After making your payment, please return to our site to fill out a Member Interest Survey to help us match your interests to our activities!

Membership Renewals

You will receive an email reminder to renew one year after your last renewal, with a link to ChapterSpot. On ChapterSpotl you can: 
  • Pay your annual dues.
  • Set up automatic renewals.
  • Update your contact information. 

If you have signed up for auto-renew, you will get a reminder that your membership is automatically renewing.
