The League of Women Voters of Hamden/North Haven Hosts Public Forum Ahead of September Primary
The League of Women Voters of Hamden/North Haven invites the public to a Meet and Greet with Hamden Mayoral Democratic Primary candidates on Wednesday, August 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hamden’s Miller Library, Thornton Wilder Hall, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden. This year, Hamden's Republican Party is not holding a primary.
All candidates who qualified for the Primary by the Hamden Registrars of Voters have been invited to participate. Each candidate will have five minutes to speak. Following the presentations, residents will have the opportunity to meet the candidates, ask questions, and learn more about their positions on issues important to the community.
This event is an excellent opportunity for voters to gather the information they need to make an informed decision about who should represent them, their families, and their neighborhoods as the Democratic mayoral candidate. The winner of the primary will appear on the ballot as the Democratic candidate in the November mayoral election. The next mayor will serve a four-year term.
Early voting for begins September 2, and Primary Election Day is September 9. There is no Republican primary.
The League of Women Voters, founded in 1920 just six months before the ratification of the 19th Amendment enshrining the right to vote regardless of sex, welcomes both women and men (since 1974) who are committed to strengthening our democracy.
