The topic is a follow up on a discussion with local superintendents where they indicated that the complexities of funding structures and formulas using federal, state and local dollars is confusing, leading to public misunderstanding. In addition, local feedback sessions conducted across North Carolina by our State Education Action Team identified school funding as a priority issue. Given current events across our communities, it is evident that all of us would benefit from a clear description that addresses the complexities of how charter and voucher systems impact traditional public school system planning and funding.
