U.S. Representatives Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, and Joe Morelle (NY-25), Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration, will hold a field hearing highlighting how Congressional Democrats are fighting to safeguard American democracy from an authoritarian takeover. They will be joined by U.S. Representative Jim Himes (CT-04), Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee.

A panel of experts will provide testimony to help inform how House Democrats shape policies to protect American democracy, including election security, electoral reforms, voting rights, and anti-corruption efforts. The hearing takes places amid widespread concerns over potential federal intervention of elections and voting restrictions proposed by the Trump Administration, including the push for the SAVE Act, stricter voter ID laws, and restrictions on voting by mail.
