Mount Pleasant, Rochambeau and South Providence Libraries will host Q&A Sessions with Candidates
PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – Community Libraries of Providence (CLPVD) will partner with League of Women Voters of Providence (LWV Providence) to present three public mayoral debates. Candidates for the next Mayor of Providence will answer questions about neighborhood issues and share their ideas for the city’s future. Debates will take place before an in-person audience and live-streamed to CLPVD’s YouTube channel. Providence residents will be able to submit questions to candidates and tell them what they think about schools, libraries, safety, the economy, and other issues of concern to the community.
The debates will take place as follows:
● Monday, July 20 at Mount Pleasant Library, 315 Academy Avenue (401-272-0106)
● Thursday, July 23 at Rochambeau Library, 708 Hope Street (401-272-3780)
● Tuesday, August 4 at South Providence Library, 441 Prairie Avenue (401-467-2619).
All debates are 6:00PM - 7:30PM and LWV Providence will act as moderators. Candidates David Morales, Brett Smiley, Dave Talan and Allen Waters have accepted the invitation to participate, while a fifth candidate, Charles Sherman, is unavailable.
