Am I eligible to vote in Connecticut?

You are eligible to vote in Connecticut IF you:

  • Are a U.S. citizen and resident of Connecticut
  • Are 18 years old, or turning 18 before Election Day
  • Have completed confinement, if you were convicted of a felony

Can all registered voters participate in the midterms?

Yes, as long as they are on the active voter list. If you registered before but have not voted in the last four years, you may be considered an "inactive" voter and will need to update your registration to be placed back on the "active" list. Contact your Registrar of Voters to verify your status and use any of the options below to update your registration.

How do I register or update my registration in time to vote in the General Election?

To check your registration status, use the Voter Lookup Tool at MyVote.CT.gov/lookup or call your Registrar of Voters.

1. To register online, by mail, or at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and vote in the General Election, the deadline is October 16:

  • Mail-in registration forms must be postmarked on this day or received by your Registrars of Voters.
  • Online voter registration applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m.
  • Voter registration at the DMV must be completed by close of business.
  • In-person registration at your local Registrars of Voters’ office ends at 8 p.m.

2. Same-Day Registration (SDR) is also available for new voters after October 16, during the Early Voting period or on Election Day. SDR is available at a designated location in each town, and is not available at your regular Election Day polling place. Registered voters can update their registration in person after October 16 at their Registrar of Voters' office during business hours.

What are my voting options?

Every eligible voter has three voting options this year:
