- In 2020, LWVUS requested that local Leagues continue to focus on The Campaign for Making Democracy Work®. The focus areas of the Making Democracy Work® Campaign are:
- Voting Rights; Improving Elections; Campaign Finance/Money in Politics; and Redistricting. Advocating for the Equal Rights Amendment was added to the LWVUS Program by delegate vote from the floor at the 2018 Convention.
LWVNC also focused on the Campaign for Making Democracy Work® in its 2019-2021. Program to focus on Redistricting Reform, Voter Protection, ERA Ratification, and Voter Services.
Members will vote on two amendments to the Bylaws.
Amendment #1: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy On October 17, 2020, the LWVODC, Inc. Board voted to amend the corporation’s Bylaws to include a statement of commitment to the LWVUS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy. The membership will have the opportunity to ratify the Board’s action at the 2021 Annual Meeting.
Amendment # 2: Responsibilities of Directors. In order to clarify the responsibilities of Directors, the Board is proposing to amend the LWVODC, Inc. Bylaws by adding the sentence depicted in red to Article V, Section 4
