Our Rights, Our Democracy: A Two-Part Series on Reproductive Rights and the Supreme Court
The League of Women Voters of Orange, Durham and Chatham Counties invites the community to a lecture series titled "Our Rights, Our Democracy: A Two-Part Series on Reproductive Rights and the Supreme Court.” Registration is required. The lectures are free and open to the public.
Two distinguished scholars from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Meredith College explore these important topics.
- Tuesday, March 29, at 7 p.m. Women’s Health and Reproductive Rights presented by Rebecca Kreitzer, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Public Policy at UNC-Chapel Hill. Reistration for March 29. (Registration deadline is 5:00 pm on March 28th.)
- Thursday, March 31, at 7 p.m. The US Supreme Court will be presented by Whitney Manzo, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Political Science at Meredith College. Registration for March 31. (Registration deadline is 5:00 pm on March 30th.)
The speakers will discuss:
- The rights of the mother and the rights of the unborn child;
- Roe v Wade;
- State laws regarding reproductive rights;
- A legal view of when life begins;
- The makeup of the Supreme Court;
- The role and responsibility of the Supreme Court;
