Based on the groundbreaking research of Robert Putnam, author of "Bowling Alone", this film underscores the crucial role of clubs and civic organizations in fostering community and strengthening democracy. A moderated discussion will follow the viewing. Many local community organizations will have information available.

The SAVE Act adds unnecessary barriers to voter registration by requiring citizenship documentation—despite existing safeguards. Many eligible voters, especially citizens of color, lack easy access to these documents. Tell your members of Congress to oppose this harmful bill and protect the freedom to vote! Join us as we explore the constitutional history of voting rights. Madison Steele from the National Constitution Center will begin with voting practices in colonial America and then trace the story through our nation's constitutional history. The discussion will also touch on key constitutional amendments on voting rights and current questions around voting rights today.

Reflecting on this tragic day in 2024, League President Dianna Wynn and I noted that January 6 was a reminder of “the sacredness of preserving democracy.” As we look ahead to a critical year for elections and advocacy, this reminder guides my every move.
