The resolution to be approved by the Senate and House would ask voters to approve an amendment to the State Constitution that would eliminate the current 30 day registration requirement to vote in elections. Rhode Island residents who reside in the town where they will be voting and who are lawfully registered would be permitted to vote. If the amendment is approved by the voters, it will go to the General Assembly for implementation.
The sponsors, Senator Alana DiMario and Representative Karen Alzate, as well as Secretary of State, Greg Amore, will be speakers.
Join us on Thursday, January 18 at 3 pm at the State House to support Same Day Registration that would eliminate the 30 day requirement that keeps many potential voters from being able to vote.
