As part of the nationwide America 250 semiquincentennial, the League of Women Voters South County offers the second in a series of special presentations that focus on women during the Revolutionary era on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Westerly Library and Wilcox Park.

Local historian Mark Murphy will present “Shining a Light on the Amazing Life of Caty Greene.” Catharine "Caty" Littlefield Greene was the wife of Major General Nathanael Greene, one of George Washington's most trusted military commanders. While General Greene's military accomplishments helped secure American victory in the South, Caty actively supported her husband, the Continental Army, and the cause of American independence beyond the typical role of women of her time.
