Join/Renew buttonThe League of Women Voters Providence serves the city of Providence and the surrounding area. It is one of the oldest Leagues in the country. It was chartered in 1919, very shortly after the League of Women Voters was created as a division of the National American Women Suffrage Association at the NAWSA convention in St. Louis, MO March 1919.

Lippitt House Museum and the Providence League of Women Voters are partnering on two in-person community discussions about supporting local community members in times of need.

The Community Discussion Series takes place March 9 and 16 at Lippitt House Museum, 199 Hope Street in Providence. Doors open at 6:30 PM with a short reception, followed by a facilitated discussion from 7:00 – 8:00 PM.

Leadership Team/Board
The Providence League leadership welcomes all members to board meetings on the first Wednesday of odd numbered months. We will be trying to alternate between morning and evening meetings this year. If you are interested in helping shape the activities of the Providence League please contact Hollie Courage hucourage [at] hotmail.com

Besides holding a series of Conversations on issues of interest, the Providence League has been actively pursuing improved funding for Public Libraries (see update) and monitoring School Building Repairs. We annually assist the Providence School Board with a forum for candidates wishing to be appointed to the School Board by the Mayor. Recent Activities

League display at SUFFS January 2026 - PPAC

The musical SUFFS was at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) in January 2026. "Direct from Broadway... the acclaimed Tony Award-winning musical SUFFS about the brilliant, passionate, and funny American women who fought tirelessly for the right to vote." The Providence League produced a display and brochures about Getting Involved, Voting in RI, and League History for the State League.
