John Ruoff, an expert in redistricting and voting rights and a long-time observer of South Carolina politics, will fill us in on the latest as we approach 2024, pivotal elections and another legislative session.

 John is the Principal of The Ruoff Group, based in Columbia, SC. Since the mid-1980s, John has appeared in federal courts as an expert in redistricting and voting rights. He has drawn local redistricting maps for the SC Conference NAACP and its branches for the last four redistricting cycles.

John, an LWVSC member, drew statewide redistricting plans for the League in the 2020 Census redistricting cycle.

 A co-author of A History of Voting Rights in South Carolina: 1982- 2006, John earned his BA at Seattle University and both a MA and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign.
