The prosperous Black community of Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was known as the "Negro Wall Street of America." Resentful of the success achieved by descendants of formerly enslaved Black people, along with allegations that a Black man had assaulted a white woman, Greenwood was violently eradicated physically and historically. On the centennial of this heinous event that has been willfully forgotten and largely suppressed, the massacre, destruction, and legacy shall be uncovered and explored. Register today!

The League of Women Voters of Litchfield County and Litchfield Historical Society will host Secretary of State Denise Merrill for a lecture titled "Connecticut Voting Laws... an embarrassment?" where she will explain the complicated steps which would have to be taken to change voting rules in Connecticut and address the debate this past year about absentee voting changes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
