Engaging Our Differences for a Better Community

LWV of the East Shore has launched our special project "Engaging Our Differences for a Better Community.  We will be offering a variety of opportunities for our members and citizens to participate in this project.

LWVES was pleased to present Dr. Terry Wu, Doctor of Neuroscience and owner of Neuromarketing Services, and his presentation entitled, “Why the Brain Follows:  The Science of Us vs. Them.”

Speaking from insights gained over his 30-year career in neuroscience research, Dr. Wu will present background on the biology of how the brain works; insights into why we look at the world through the lens of Us vs. Them; and, how can we bring Us and Them together.

This is part of the LWVES special project: “Engaging our Differences for a Better Community”.

Dr. Wu's Presentation Handout:

In September, LWVES held a webinar to kick off the Engaging Our Differences for a Better Community project and give people time to consider how we all might engage our differences to create a better community for all.  You can view the webinar on YouTube.

We will share any upcoming events as they are scheduled.  We hope you join us!

Redistricting has started in Connecticut.  It is a vital part of a fair and transparent election process.  We urge you to follow the redistricting/reapportionment process as it goes ahead.  This only happens every 10 years and so the time is NOW to make sure we have fair maps and that you have your voice heard.

LWV DAY OF ACTION

Day of Action logo

The League of Women Voters of the East Shore at the Guilford Free Library, held our Day of Action with local Girl Scouts and made "vote" buttons and "suffragist" yellow sashes at the library on Saturday. Michelle Esteve, LWVES Board member, planned and oversaw the activity.  Members of the public stopped by to pick up a button and chat about the history of women's suffrage and the League.
