A hallmark of informing voters in an election year are the LWV candidate forums. The LWV of Alachua County, our affiliate LWV student chapter at the University of Florida (LWV at UF), and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service are partnering to present a forum for candidates running in the primary election. Election Day is August 20, 2024. Candidates for sheriff, city commission, county commission, school board and state representative will be vying for seats.
On June 23 at 1:00 p.m., at the UF Pugh Hall Ocora, a candidate forum will take place. Questions about local issues have been composed by LWV members for each candidate for each seat. After the forum, free refreshments will be available as the public has an opportunity to engage with the candidates. This event is free and open to the public and ample free parking is available. Come see the candidates in person and express the issues that are important to you. If it is not feasible to attend in person, watch the livestream or a recording of the event.
