This spring, the University of New Haven TV Production class partnered with the League to create three Public Service Announcements ahead of the 2024 Elections covering early voting in Connecticut, spotting disinformation and misinformation, and the reasons why young adults vote.

The League of Women Voters of Connecticut Education Fund (LWVCTEF) board will determine which candidates will be invited to participate in a LWVCT EF sponsored or co-sponsored candidate debate. All candidates who have met the standards as determined by the Secretary of the State’s Office to qualify for appearance on the ballot for the contested office(s) covered by the debate, and who meet the additional stated criteria, will be invited to participate.

On June 6, 2024, Governor Ned Lamont announced the formation of a Working Group To Recommend Options for a Comprehensive System of Ranked-Choice Voting in Primaries and Municipal Elections, marking a big stride for Connecticut's electoral system. Ann Reed, Advocacy Chair for LWVCT, is a member of the Working Group.
Thanks to the efforts of League member Mary Consoli and others, certain patients in nursing homes will now have access to emergency absentee ballots.
Connecticut voters will see this question on their November 5 ballot: "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?" Connecticut is behind the majority of other states when it comes to access to absentee voting. It’s time to catch up!
