A Word from the President: Nonpartisanship in a Hyper-Partisan Climate

Words matter. Our organization’s original non-partisan stance was a way to ensure that all women would feel included and inclined to vote. Since then, it has been a hallmark of our work and the cornerstone of our reputation. But a combination of factors has led to a hyper-partisan political climate where the focus is more on “winning” than informing voters on the issues. While these factors make our job more difficult, it is imperative that we stay above the fray of partisan politics.

LWV Litchfield County presents - Public Monuments: A Reflection of Our Values?

The League of Women Voters of Litchfield County will partner with the Litchfield Historical Society to offer a talk called "Hidden in Plain Sight: Decoding Public Monuments". Our speaker will be David Anthone, the Supervisory Historic Preservation Officer of the General Services Administration. Anthone's government role is within historic preservation and public art, while his art practice focuses on painting, conceptual work and ready-mades, at his studio in Roxbury, CT. LWV Greenwich - ENCORE Community Case Discussion with HBS Professor David Moss: James Madison, the “Federal Negative” and the Making of the US Constitution

Wednesday, April 6, 2022 - 7:00pm

Adults will join with Greenwich high school students for this intergenerational conversation. We will also be welcoming League members and high school teachers from around the country to participate in the ENCORE Community Case Discussion centered around a pivotal debate at the Constitutional Convention of 1787:
- Should the federal government have veto power over state laws?
- How much power - and what kind of power - should the federal government have over states?
