A major part of the League of Women Voters of Illinois’ mission is to influence public policy through education and advocacy. Through study and member agreement, the League has developed positions on a wide range of issues, from government structure to natural resources to social policy. 

The Illinois League has over 20 Issue Specialists who keep track of legislation in their assigned issue areas. We place emphasis on areas of the legislative agenda where the League is a recognized leader and we believe we can have the most impact. When appropriate, Issue Specialists may send Time For Action alerts (TFAs) asking our members to take action on particular issues or legislation.
