One of the primary reasons people are interested in joining the League of Women Voters is to take part in democracy and become actively involved with their communities.
Volunteer Opportunities in our Communities
Our members make a difference in our communities. We hold events at local libraries, high schools, senior centers, farmers markets and festivals talking about the League and our mission to defend democracy and empower voters.
At our Community Events like National Night Out and summer outdoor markets, we talk about the League’s mission and the value of membership. With an election this November, we’ll also register voters and answer questions about the elections.
At our Get Out the Vote / Voter Registration Events, we’ll register new voters, update registrations, help with Vote By Mail signups and answer questions about the upcoming Election. Members are welcome to volunteer at all of our events; however, you need to attend a training session if you wish to be a Deputy Registrar and register voters.
As a member you can join a committee, become an observer, or help with special projects. If you’re able to volunteer your time, check out the committees listed below. Please check the League’s calendar for times and locations. Click on a committee below that interests you to learn more about it.

More Ways to Get Involved
If you don’t have time to devote to reaching out to our communities or committee work, please consider these opportunities to participate.
Join our Book Club discussions: Janice Kufta, Chair. This members-only event meets the second Tuesdays from 7 - 9 p.m. on odd-numbered months: January, March, May, July, September, and November. All members are welcome to join the discussions. We read any books that we feel will open our minds and generate discussion. The books do not have to relate to the mission or actions of LWV and can be fiction or nonfiction. The person nominating a book must have read it and will be the discussion leader, if the book is chosen. Every third meeting, we also choose the three books and the hosts for the next three meetings (6 months). Read the book and join the conversation! When we meet in person, someone volunteers to host the club at her home. Check our book schedule.
