The Robert R. McCormick House at Cantigny Park and the LWV of Wheaton continue their acclaimed Civic Awareness Series with an in-person viewing of the acclaimed motion picture, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Enjoy Cantigny Park, relax inside the Visitor Center’s Le Jardin, grab some popcorn, and enjoy an American classic: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. At the conclusion of the movie, the League of Women Voters and the McCormick House will raffle off 10 copies of Ian Rosenberg’s 2021 book titled The Fight for Free Speech: Ten Cases that Define our First Amendment Freedoms. Mr. Rosenberg will be the September 2021 Civic Awareness virtual speaker.
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a 1939 drama and comedy motion picture that starred Jimmy Stewart as Jefferson Smith, a newcomer to the U.S. Senate fighting against political corruption. The movie earned eleven Academy Award nominations and considered one of the greatest films of all time.
