All residents of DuPage and neighboring counties are invited to join their neighbors in “Living The Dream”, the Annual Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday and legacy, in a documentary at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021. The documentary will be televised on the following social medias: Second Baptist Church Website (sbcwheaton.org), YouTube and Facebook, and Gary United Methodist Church Website (garychurch.org) and Facebook.
The Annual event welcomes people of all races, faith traditions, ethnic backgrounds and economic classes, along with public, education, business and religious leaders, to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on this national holiday. This year we celebrate 31 YEARS, the oldest public celebration of the life and ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in DuPage celebration of the life and ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in DuPage County.
This documentary will include singing by the Second Baptist Church Music Ministry and more, performances by George Saltar, “Motivator G”, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Mountain Top Speech by 14 year old Charles Sykes, excerpts from various keynotes speakers and more.
The DuPage County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee is also a scholarship organization. Since 2006, $55,000 has been awarded in scholarships to DuPage County graduating seniors who exemplify the qualities, beliefs and works of Dr. Martin Luther King. The non-for-profit organization L.E.S.S. (Life Enhancing Support Service) is the MLK Committee’s 501(c)3 Fiscal Agent. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law and a receipt from L.E.S.S. can be provided. If you would like to support the students of DuPage County you may do so by making your check payable to L.E.S.S. On the memo line indicate: Martin Luther King Scholarship.
