Why am I running for office and what can I bring to the office I am seeking?
After working for many years in public health and health care management here in Massachusetts, I now have time to get involved in local government, something that has always interested me. A big part of my past work experience included health care state and national policy interpretation and implementation. I worked in the State system for several years and was responsible for daily operations of federally-qualified health centers. My roles involved a significant amount of regulatory compliance, monitoring and evaluation. I welcome the opportunity to bring my experience to the CHA Board. As a member of the Board, I will wholeheartedly support CHA’s mission. I will work with my Board colleagues to serve the community, leveraging my knowledge of implementing and monitoring government-sponsored programs for vulnerable populations.
What in your opinion are the biggest challenges/issues facing the committee that you hope to serve?
As a newcomer, it is hard to know precisely the specific challenges the CHA Board faces. It is clear though, that significant public health and economic challenges since the onset of the pandemic impact us at a local level. The Board and CHA must continue its current operations and oversight while tackling increased demand for State-mandated affordable housing during this unprecedented time.
I look forward to participating on the CHA Board. I will listen and learn, ask questions and do my homework to understand Concord’s challenges and strengths related to affordable housing - within the context of current and proposed State housing regulations.
