VOTE 411 - Election Information You Need

The League's Register & Vote brochure has updated information on Missouri's voting laws. For information on absentee voting, click here.

The deadline to register to vote in the Aug. 6 election is July 10. You can request an abentee ballot by mail until July 24.

A new period of no-excuse, in-person absentee voting begins two weeks before each election (July 23 for the Aug. 6 primary). Vote at your local election authority office or at your nearest satellite voting site. St. Louis County offers a map of those sites at Absentee Voting Lookup (arcgis.com). Sites will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 9 to 1 on two Saturdays: July 27 and Aug. 3.

The following satellite sites for voting in the city of St. Louis will open from noon to 4 pm on Monday and 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday.

  • Buder Library, 4401 Hampton Ave. 63109
  • Central Library, 1301 Olive St. 63103
  • Kingshighway Library, 2260 S. Vandeventer Ave. 63110
  • St. Louis Election Board, 300 N. Tucker Blvd. 63101
  • Walnut Park Library, 5760 W. Florissant Ave. 63129

The new law requires a government-issued photo ID or passport to vote. Voters without a valid ID can cast a provisional ballot at their polling place on Election Day but their signature will have to match one on file with the election authority to count. For more information on changes that took effect on Aug. 28, 2022, go to the Missouri Secretary of State's website.

Signing up to be a poll worker is one way to ensure our democracy stays strong. Sign up with your local election authority (links below) or go to www.powerthepolls.org/LWV to help with 2024 elections.

Voters may request an absentee ballot for a single election or on a permanent basis. Seniors and disabled voters can contact their local election authority to be placed on the permanently disabled list. Voters on that list are sent an absentee ballot before each election and don’t need to have their ballots notarized.
