Get to know the Lewis and Clark County candidates on the November 3, 2026, ballot

The Helena Area Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters of the Helena Area invite Lewis and Clark County voters to attend "Speed Date Your Local Candidates" a fast-paced, engaging event to get to know our local candidates before the November 3, 2026, election.

The candidates who have been invited to participate are:

  • County Commissioner (District #2): Brent Colbert, Jakob Miles, and Tom Rolfe
  • Sheriff/Coroner: Leo C. Dutton and Chris Norris
  • Treasurer/Clerk and Recorder: Amy Reeves (not yet confirmed)
  • County Attorney/Public Administrator: Kevin Downs
  • County Superintendent of Schools: Reginald Hageman (not yet confirmed)
  • Justice of the Peace: Tim Mielke and Michael Swingley (not yet confirmed)

As of September 1, seven of the ten candidates running in the November 3, 2026, general election have confirmed their participation in this event, as shown above in bold. We hope all will be able to join us.

Attendees will be seated at round tables, along with a facilitator. Each candidate will give a brief presentation, then rotate among tables to answer your questions directly.  When a bell rings, candidates will move on to the next table. Afterward, enjoy open mingling and conversation.

The purpose of this event is to promote the informed and active participation of citizens in their government. It is intended to educate the public, motivate voters to participate in the elections, and give voters a chance to hear the views of the candidates. This event is entirely nonpartisan and election campaigning will not be permitted.
