Youth Action Council Mission/Vision/Values Statement Mission: To cultivate an informed and engaged electorate of young Helena-area voters through public education and by fostering inclusive, safe spaces to learn and engage.
In May of 2026, a founding group of eight young people from Helena met to form the Youth Action Council (YAC) of the League of Women Voters of the Helena Area. They are building the Council from the ground up, establishing its structure, processes, and long-term sustainability so future youth leaders can continue the work year after year.
Through monthly meetings, leadership training, mentorship, and youth-led projects, the YAC is creating meaningful pathways for young people to organize their communities to vote and influence local democracy and design practical civic initiatives.
As a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, the League of Women Voters actively promotes informed participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The leaders of the YAC follow these nonpartisan precepts. They are rolling up their sleeves to create meaningful civic programs that encourage and empower young people to make positive changes for their communities.
Your support for this Council will help us reach our goal to raise $7,000. Please make your donation payable to LWV of Helena, note YAC on the memo line, and send to LWVHA, Attn: Youth Action Council, PO Box 6534, Helena, MT 59604 or, for a tax-deductible donation, go to the online DONATION form indicating your donation is for the Youth Action Council.
