The Tri-County Firesafe Working Group (TCFWG) is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting wildfire awareness and community wildfire safety in Lewis & Clark, Jefferson, and Broadwater Counties. Their programs include outreach and education, free home wildfire risk assessments and fuel mitigation project plans, cost-share funding for wildfire risk mitigation projects, and maintaining a public fire wise demonstration garden.
Lois Olsen will discuss the wildfire risk in our area, why mitigation is important, basic elements of fire risk for your home and property, and what you can do to mitigate your risk, including how to take advantage of TCFWG services. She will also share information about “firescaping” using fire-wise plants and other landscaping concepts. You don’t have to live in a forest to be in a wildfire! These concepts are important for residents within the city of Helena as well as those in outlying areas.
