Information Session on Referenda for 708 Mental Health Boards for Winfield and Wayne Townships - recorded on Sept. 26

This November there is a referendum on the ballot to establish Community Mental Health Boards in Winfield and Wayne Townships. This is a recording of the meeting held on Sept 26, 2024 at Warrenville City Hall.  The objective of this meeting was to provide information so  the voters can make an informed decision when casting their vote
The Wheaton League of Women Voters is not advocating for either a yes or no vote. The goal of the League of Women Voters is to always present a balanced view and diverse opinions of an issue. Invitations were sent to those who have expressed concerns and objections to the establishment of Township 708 boards but sadly they declined to be part of tonight’s panel. But we will try our best to present both the pros and cons of the issue.

Moderated candidate forum for contested congressional districts and DuPage countywide candidates - Recorded Oct. 3

The forum was hosted by the League of Women Voters of Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle-Bloomingdale, and Wheaton  The League hosts candidate forums only for contested races, inviting all candidates on the ballot. If only one candidate is present, they can give a three-minute introductory statement, but no forum is held. No surrogates are allowed. Here are the videos for each office.

Candidate Forum at West Chicago Community High School

The govenment students of West Chicago Community High School hosted a candidate forum for County Board District 6 candidates in cooperation of the League of Women Voters of Wheaton. Such forums not only give students a voice in the political conversation but also provide candidates with the opportunity to hear directly from a younger demographic.
