Why are you running for office and what can you bring to the office you are seeking?
Currently, I serve as chair of the Select Board and during the past three years have faced, along with my fellow board members, multiple challenges before the Town. This has included the selection of a new town manager, and the inevitable transition that this results in; the ever present and highly disruptive Covid-19 pandemic which has upended business as usual for everyone; and, continuing legal issues now awaiting court opinions or trial dates to finally reach resolution for all involved. A challenging time to serve the town to say the least!
Through it all, I have worked diligently not to lose sight of the values and character of our town as we deliver municipal services and plan for the future with needs of all of our citizens in mind. It is a privilege to serve as a Select Board member, and I will continue to bring forward multiple town voices to ask decisive questions and provide critical information about issues before the Select Board.
What in your opinion are the biggest challenges/issues facing the committee/board that you hope to serve?
- Encouragement of new operations and policies to support sustainable ways of delivering municipal services in a tight economy faced with increasing climate change and resilience issues.
- Support of local economic recovery initiatives mindful of citizen concerns about affordability and the existing tax burden.
- Thoughtful preparation of capital expenditures for a new middle school building and other capital needs desired by the community; and,
- Work to leverage opportunities that promote a range of affordable housing options for Concord’s workforce, seniors downsizing, young families, and farm workers.
