NewsThe Rhode Island League of Women Voters of RI is accepting nominations for the 18th annual Susan B. Wilson Civic Merit Awards now through March 26, 2025.
These awards are given to three teachers or teams of teachers who find innovative ways to incorporate civics education into their curriculum. Prizes include:
- 1st Place: $2000
- 2nd Place: $1000 and
- Honorable Mention: $500
Do You Know a K -12 Teacher or Team of Teachers who ...
- Enriches students' understanding of their own civic rights and responsibilities;
- Encourages students' civic participation;
- Brings context and relevance to pivotal civic events--historic and/or current--affecting the United States on a national, regional, statewide, or local level;
- Promotes understanding and appreciation of individuals who play a role in aforementioned pivotal civic events.
