The Time Is NOW -- A Crisis Is Looming and We Can't Wait!
Learn what you need to know about the upcoming bond election on Thursday, August 21, at 6 pm, at a public forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Helena Area and Lewis & Clark Library, to be held at the Library, 120 S. Last Chance Gulch, Helena.
Save our Tradition of Excellence: School Facilities Matter will help voters understand why we must act now to pass the high school and elementary bonds, which will fund rebuilding Helena High School and Kessler Elementary, and make critical upgrades to Capital High School, PAL (Project for Alternative Learning), and the district's central kitchen.
PAL teacher, Ryan Cooney, will discuss the importance of public education to our community; Todd Verrill, district facilities manager will give an overview of the facilities’ current conditions and the potential for the future; State Representative Luke Muszkiewicz will give the legislative and economic perspective; and School Board Chair Jennifer McKee will explain why we can’t keep kicking the can down the road.
This upcoming forum will give voters another opportunity to learn more and have their questions answered before marking and submitting their ballots.
Ballots for the September 9th municipal election will be mailed the third week of August.
Helena Civic TV will be present to record the forum.
