From its beginning 106 years ago, the League of Women Voters has hosted forums and debates to provide voters a front-row seat as candidates explain how they plan to address issues and concerns in their communities and regions. These live events give constituents the opportunity to ask the candidates questions of concern to them and their community.

Founded as an outgrowth of the Women’s Suffrage Movement, the primary goal of the League is to ensure that all citizens are empowered to cast an informed vote in every election. To this end, we register voters, provide important voter information and compile Voters Guides so that voters can learn where each candidate stands on the issues.

The League’s non-partisan Voters Guide is available online at Vote411.org. Here you can register to vote (deadline October 19), apply for a mail-in ballot (deadline October 26), locate your polling place, and, most importantly, learn about the candidates and where they stand on important issues of the day.

Voters Guides include information provided by the candidate about their background and their positions on important issues of the day. We always ask each candidate to identify what they consider to be the most pressing issues facing their voters and to explain how they would address them. We then ask a few questions regarding issues they might face if elected. Candidates’ answers are unedited by the League.

The LWV Voters Guide for the 2026 midterm election will be printed in the Herald on October 22nd.  But Voters Guides are no substitute for in-person Candidate Forums. Just as an employer rarely hires someone based solely on a resume, forums allow voters to evaluate how candidates handle pressure, interact with opponents, and articulate theirvisi on in real-time. Our elected officials are our employees, and it is important that they let us know where they stand.

Beginning last summer, the Bucks County League reached out to all twenty-eight local legislative candidates running for state and national office from Bucks County.  This included candidates in all three PA Senatorial Districts and in all 10 PA House Districts.  Where possible, the written invitations were reinforced with spoken invitations during conversations with the candidates or their office staff.

The League is pleased that we can bring two Candidate Forums to the voters of Bucks County. We look forward to two lively and informative evenings.
