Monthly Meetings

Regular meetings are on the 2nd Monday of the month from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Online meetings will be via Zoom until further notice. Check our Calendar for meeting updates and Zoom links.

Our meetings combine information-sharing, what is happening on the redistricting front in North Carolina, with concrete-action to advance fair voting maps in North Carolina. Our working session might include planning for future events, preparing promotional material, post carding/letter writing, etc. Join us as often as you can. We need and very much welcome your input!

The LWVNC Redistricting Reform Team regularly hosts this webinar. The topic may address what is happening in the North Carolina legislature, Supreme Court cases, experiences of groups in other states in their efforts to achieve fair districts, etc. Join us as often as you can to stay informed and learn how you can help get Reasonable Redistricting Reform in NC!

• Need a quick refresher on redistricting and gerrymandering to get ready for the 2021 redrawing? We've recorded four short videos that will bring you up to speed. You can find them all here.
• Coming attraction:  Our latest webinar on citizen tools for redistricting, featuring Representable, will be uploaded soon on our YouTube site, along with recent webinars: 
  • January webinar:  We talked with Representable's Outreach Director, NC's own Mikala Parnell, about how to draw your community online and capture important information about what matters to you and your neighbors. This information will help you push for districts that keep you all together!
  • Nov. & Dec. webinars have been posted:  Watch these informative (and encouraging) discussions of 2021 reform prospects with former State Sens. Skip STAM and Terry VAN DUYN, former State Reps. Craig HORN and Chaz BEASLEY, and current legislators Jon HARDISTER (House Majority Whip; R-Guilford) and Verla INSKO (D-Orange).  
• The latest news is that the 2021 Census data will be delayed until late summer, meaning that the redistricting process is also delayed. Stay tuned to find out whether (and how) that will affect the redistricting process. At this point, it looks like it can still get done in time for the 2022 election filing period (normally Dec. 2021).  
• The legislature is back and the redistricting committees have been named. Find committee links here for the House and Senate (Joint Congressional Redistricting Comm. coming soon). This is a great time to contact your legislators and tell them you want fair maps! Find them here (and enjoy NC's pretty gerrymanders from last year).
• Join our coalition to help prevent another decade of gerrymandering.  See our other organizational members here. The key requirement to become an organizational member:  endorse our 5 principles for reasonable redistricting reform! 
• Our study on county redistricting in NC is moving ahead! NC will redraw hundreds of county commission districts in 2021. You can find our recorded webinar on this topic (and follow our YouTube page!) here. Look for the launch of our new website on county commission redistricting very soon!
