It was an inspiring and symbolic event held with the League of Women Voters of Lawrence Township (NJ).  League members and supporters walked out on the Lumberville – Raven Rock Bridge to pass a replica suffrage torch across the Delaware River from the NJ side to PA.  This symbolic gesture was done to honor the work of the suffragists and recall the Women’s Political Union 1915 campaign for the right to vote, during which a torch was carried through New York and New Jersey by members of the Women’s Political Union and eventually made its way to Pennsylvania.  The gathering on Sunday, August 23 2020 served to memorialize the campaign for the 19th amendment and spotlight the continuing work by the League of Women Voters to protect the right to vote.  See the pictures here.  Thanks to Julie Becker of the League of Women Voters of Bucks County for the fine photos!
