In these tumultuous times for our country, one of the best ways for us to weigh in on the debate about the future of our democracy is by exercising our right to vote. On November 4th, we can do just that by participating in the 2025 Municipal Election.

The League of Women Voters has long recognized that the quality of voters’ civic education is fundamental to the success of American democracy. For many of us, that civic education first took root in classrooms where we learned the underlying principles of good government as well as our rights and responsibilities as citizens. Yet, in recent years, Americans’ civic knowledge seems to be in decline, and some recent surveys point specifically to a concerningly low level of civic literacy among young people.

On May 20, 2025, Bucks County voters will have the opportunity to participate in the Municipal Primary to select party candidates for various local and county offices. Municipal elections do matter! In many ways, the county and local offices on municipal ballots can have a greater impact on the quality of life for our families and communities, especially in such areas as education, public safety, infrastructure, and local services.
