These are membership opportunities for participation and development of our local league. Please review the description of each area and complete the form that follows. This is a form to express interest only. Involvement may be on a short-term or long-term basis and can be discussed with the leader of the interest area.
ADVOCACY - Respond to action alerts by contacting government representatives
COMMUNICATIONS - Assist with League Lines (newsletter); assist with technology (formatting, data, office skill, editing, graphic design, social media); assist with public relations
EDUCATION K-12 - Supporting advocacy by participating in public hearings through being visible or testifying; assist with sharing updates in League Lines; write letters to the editors; assist with organizing rally participants when needed
ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS - Attend local government meetings with other members; write a summary for League Lines; collaborate with partner organizations; suggest speakers and organize action
GUN SAFETY - Attend local government meetings with other members; write a summary for League Lines; collaborate with partner organizations; suggest speakers on gun safety topics
MEMBERSHIP - Assist with membership recruitment and development; plan membership events; represent LWVCA at community events; assist with membership directory; mentor new members
OBSERVER CORPS - Observe local government, school board, or gov. sub-committee meetings; submit brief summary for League Lines newsletter
SOCIAL EVENTS - Help plan and coordinate events (August social, holiday party, public policy luncheons, etc.); coordinate set-up and clean-up; donate food and beverage for receptions; host a meeting or event in my home
TRAINING/EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - Speakers Bureau: Present LWVCA approved programs to outside groups upon request; write letters to the editor; research and write up-to-date policy articles for distribution to members; assist with fundraising by organizing events or making personal contacts following LWV guidelines
TRANSPORTATION - Attend local government meetings with other members; write a summary for League Lines; suggest speakers on transportation issues
VOTE411 - Promote our one-stop-shop for election related information at community events;
present Vote411 information to city and town councils; help create questions for candidates to answer; follow-up with candidates to encourage their participation; host a meeting or event in my home
VOTER EDUCATION - Assist with developing questions for candidate forums; moderate candidate forums; provide support for candidate forums (e.g., coordinating with host group, timekeeping, greeting); develop materials for distribution to potential voters
VOTER PARTICIPATION - Assist in “get out the vote” planning and/or communication campaigns; assist with voter registration events
WOMEN'S HEALTH - Supporting advocacy by participating in public hearings through being visible or testifying; Assist with sharing updates in League Lines; assist with organizing rally participants with partner organizations
