Jim Bohland, an emeritus professor in the VT’s School of Public and International Affairs, will talk about the growing threat that authoritarianism poses to our democracy. He will discuss the rise of right-wing populism and authoritarianism in the world. Do current trends represent a threat to liberal democracies here and abroad?

This month’s talk will be our first brownbag luncheon. Bring your sandwich or salad to the library’s meeting room and join your friends for a fascinating program and a chance to enjoy the company of fellow League members. Bring a friend to hear this important and disturbing issue analyzed.

Jim Bohland, our speaker, is well known in the Blacksburg community. He played a key role in Virginia Tech’s growth in Northern Virginia as vice president and executive director of Virginia Tech National Capital Region Operations before his retirement.

Join us Tuesday, April 2, 2024, 11:45 a.m. at the Blacksburg Library Meeting Room for our first brownbag luncheon!
