What is League Program? It’s not what you think!

Join fellow Leaguers to help determine the LWV of the United States Education and Advocacy Platform

Tuesday, February 8, 2022

6:30 – 8:30- p.m. (virtual by Zoom)

Guest presenter: Toni Zimmer, LWVUS board member and liaison to the LWVDE.

League program is the education and advocacy platform that we adopt at LWVUS convention to move our mission forward.  As we look to achieve our transformational goals around relevance, impact, focus and culture, we also look to the priority issues that are at the heart of the League’s mission.

If you are new to League, or need a refresher on why and how the League arrives at its program and adopts its positions and advocacy priorities, this is your opportunity to learn and help participate.

Toni Zimmer

Toni served as president of the LWV of New Jersey (LWVNJ) from 2011 to 2015.  In 2012, Hurricane Sandy struck the state, just days before the general election. LWVNJ had to cultivate special relationships and build consensus during the aftermath, working closely with several organizations, including the ACLU and the state government, to ensure the state could proceed with an election that would accommodate as many voters as possible, some of whom were stranded out of state. The effort was successful.

Ms. Zimmer is a member of the LWVUS Board of Directors and LWVEF Board of Trustees. She is chair of the LWV Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. Toni is also chair of the LWV National Popular Vote Task Force, and served on the LWV as Board Secretary from 2016 to 2020.
