"The State of Delaware's Affordable Housing Crisis": A virtual presentation series by the League of Women Voters of Delaware Advocacy Corps as part of League Days 2023.
Affordable Housing - or the Lack Thereof
Delaware continues to struggle to provide affordable housing, reported in the State’s 2021 Analysis of Impediments there is a shortage of 17,114 units for extremely low-income renters and more than 53,360 households in the state experiencing severe housing problems with many residents living in substandard housing conditions to avoid homelessness.
Beginning in February-May the LWVDE will convene a series of roundtable virtual discussions to raise awareness (nationally and locally), share lived experiences and discuss potential strategies and solutions to address the affordable housing crisis.
The series is coordinated by Rabbi Sonya Starr, Policy Director at Housing Alliance Delaware, and Melody Taylor, Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary Enforcement Compliance, Executive Director- PAVE, LWVDE board director.
