The League of Women Voters of Sussex County, Delaware (LWVSCDE) invites you to join us on March 24 from 6-9 PM, at the Cinema Art Theater in Lewes, for our Second Annual Defending Democracy Film Festival Fundraiser. Having sponsored six candidate forums throughout the County in the last six months, the League particularly looks forward to having funds to pay for venues to continue our candidate forum work along with other activities addressing voter education, voter registration, and other issues of concern to Sussex County citizens.

The evening begins with a reception featuring light snacks and refreshments provided by DiFebo's Restaurant & Market, as well as a variety of items to be raffled off and a 50/50 raffle, in which half of the proceeds go to the League and the other half to the winner. Wine, beer and other drinks will be available at the snack bar, with proceeds benefiting our partner, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society. The theater will then feature two documentaries touching on historic and contemporary challenges to democracy. From the role of iconic Rosie the Riveter–including an interview with one of the original Rosies, to the continued battle for women’s rights through the Women’s March, these films will both enlighten you and encourage you to treasure and exercise your right to vote.
