Who is eligible to join?
Everyone is welcome!. Membership in the League of Women Voters (US, Delaware, or Sussex County, Delaware) is open to anyone 16 years of age or older. Membership in the League of Women Voters, the most respected and effective grassroots organization in the country, is open to men and women of all ages.
Why should I join?
Participation in the League will help you learn more about our government and the critical issues facing our communities. League projects are personally rewarding while providing valuable service to the community. There are many opportunities to discover new interests, develop new skills, and influence the political process through action and involvement. You will meet others who share your interests, make professional contacts, build your resume’ and develop lasting friendships. League membership allows you to stay active and involved throughout your life.
How much time does it take?
That's up to you! Whether working at the local, state, or national level, the League covers a broad spectrum of issues and concerns. You may become involved in one or more of them by actively participating in a group study, listening to a panel of experts at a meeting, or assisting with the sustainability of the organization. There are many opportunities to participate in Voter Service activities such as voter registration, moderating candidate forums, or collecting data and contributing to Vote411.org. Refer to the information under the COMMITTEES heading to learn more about our activities. We recognize that a few members choose to support the League's activities solely with their annual dues and financial support. All membership dues support our influence as a voice for citizens and a force for change
What do I get?
When you join, in addition to becoming a member of the League of Women Voters of Sussex County, Delaware (LWVSCDE), you automatically become a member of LWV of Delaware and LWV of the United States. If you choose, you will receive links to online publications and email updates on events and activities from the LWVSCDE. Members also have access to league information available on the Members Only section of our league website, www.SussexLWV.org. You will have the satisfaction of joining your voice with members from all 50 states, Washington DC and the Virgin Islands, to be a powerful force for informed, involved citizenship, and accountable government.
How much does it cost to join?
Annual dues for an individual membership is $60; for a two-member household, $90; and for a student membership $5. As a non-profit 501 c3 organization, your dues and donations are fully tax deductable.
How do I join?
Click the JOIN button above. Fill out the online membership form, click Submit, and pay online using PayPal. Or print and fill out the membership form and mail it to the address provided. Please include a check made out to the LWVSCDE for the appropriate amount (see above).
