LWV Wheaton was honored and happy to be at a naturalization ceremony at Cantigny Park. The League helped welcome a new group of citizens and was on hand to register new voters!

Make Democracy Work

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major political policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The LWV is non-partisan and neither supports nor opposes candidates for elected office but does act on issues after member study and consensus.

The League of Women Voters of Wheaton is proud to sponsor Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy, a traveling panel exhibition from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, as our community marks the United States’ Semiquicentennial. As we approach America’s 250th birthday, this exhibit invites our community to revisit the bold ideals of the Declaration—and to reflect on how each generation has worked to expand the promise of democracy.

Make your voice heard! League members and guests are invited to spend an hour learning more about an important issue and how to take concrete action on it. We’ll meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7pm via zoom. We’ll highlight current issues the League is following and walk through the process of how we can take action on those issues.

Register for this zoom session on March 19th at 7pm to learn about What the Constitution Says—and How It’s being Interpreted Today, this is the second in a series that will explore the U.S. Constitution through both its historical foundations and its ongoing relevance in today’s headlines every 3rd Thursday evening of the month at 7:00PM. Registering once will register you for all sessions. This event will be discussing war powers (Iran, Venezuela and any future) as well as any new events happening over the week before the 19th.
