SC Environmental Working Group Zoom MeetingThursday, August 31 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm

This event is open to all league members. Please join us to learn more about how global warming and climate change affects the future of agriculture and food production.

We will be hosting speaker Dr. Seth Pritchard, a biology professor at the College of Charleston, who will speak to us about this issue. He will also discuss the role that soil may play in carbon sequestration and carbon offsets (aka carbon banking). Dr. Pritchard will speak up to 30 minutes and Q & A will follow.

Dr. Pritchard's research interests include:

  • Understanding how global environmental changes will influence forest function with emphasis on quantifying controls of carbon and nitrogen flow through the atmosphere-plant-soil microbe continuum.
  • Sustainable agriculture
  • Hydroponics
  • Physiological ecology of annual and perennial crops
