For online voter registration at www.scvotes.gov., you must be registered to vote by October 6 to vote in the November General Election. To register to vote online, you will need your S.C. driver's license or ID issued by the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and your Social Security number. To register to vote in person at your county election office, you must be registered to vote by October 4. You will receive your registration card within 2 – 3 weeks.

Why Voting Matters. Elections affect every area of our lives, from health care to jobs to racial justice. When we choose our leaders by voting, we’re choosing the people who will make decisions that shape the direction of our country and our communities.

When can I vote?

  • On election day. The election will be held at polling places throughout the county from 7 am to 7 pm. You can find your polling place by calling the election office at 864.898.5948 (Pickens County) or 864.638.4196 (Oconee County) or go online at www.scvotes.gov.
  • Early Voting – no reason required. Visit your county voter registration office and other early voting centers in your county during the early voting period and vote in person like you would at your polling place on Election Day. Remember to bring your Photo ID when checking in to vote.

  • Absentee Ballot. Start the Absentee process NOW by calling your county election office at 864.898.5948 (Pickens County) or 864.638.4196 (Oconee County) to:
    • 1) request that they mail you an application for an Absentee Ballot. The  
    • 2) once received, complete the application and return it by mail or in person to the county election office
    • 3) when the absentee ballot is received, complete your ballot and be sure to sign the voter’s oath and have your signature witnessed. Anyone age 18 or older can witness your signature. Your ballot must be received by mail or in person to the elections’ office by 7 pm on election day. The deadline for voters to apply for an absentee ballot for the General Election is October 25, 2024, 5 pm. It is recommended that the process begin as early as possible.

What do I need to bring to vote?  You will need a Photo ID. Acceptable IDs include:

  • SC Driver's License - includes standard license and REAL ID
  • SC Department of Motor Vehicles ID card - includes standard ID card, REAL ID and includes SC Concealed Weapons Permit
  • SC Voter Registration card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID - includes all Department of Defense Photo IDs and Veterans Affairs Benefits card
  • U.S. Passport - includes U.S. Passport ID card

  • Find out about the candidates. There are sources that can helpYou may go to www.Vote411.org.
  • Print out a sample ballot for your location at www.SCVotes.gov or www.Vote411.org. Take the sample ballot with you to the polls when you vote.
  • Check the status of your voter registration and confirm your polling place at www.SCVotes.gov.
