Why Primary Elections Matter More Than You Think

Monday, April 6 at 4 pm
Central Clemson Library
105 Commons Way, Central, SC 29630

The League of Women Voters of Oconee and Pickens Counties (LWVOP) will host a public discussion about primary elections with SC State House Representative Neil Collins and South Carolina LWV Board member Lawson Wetli.

When we talk about elections, most people picture November. Yard signs, long lines, and big national races. But many of the decisions that shape our communities are actually made months earlier in primary elections.

Primaries determine which candidates appear on the general election ballot. When turnout is low, a small number of voters can decide choices that affect schools, roads, health care, and local leadership. Participating in primaries is one of the most direct ways citizens can shape the future of their community.

Democracy works best when more voices are heard. That starts with understanding the importance of the primary.

This event is free and open to the public.
