Are you prepared to Vote in the Statewide General Election, November 3, 2026?

For online voter registration at SCVotes.gov, you must be registered to vote by October 4 to vote in the November Statewide General Election. To register to vote online, you will need your S.C. driver's license or ID issued by the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and your full Social Security number. To register to vote in person at your county election office, you must be registered to vote by October 2. To register to vote by mail, the deadline is October 5 and it must be postmarked by this date. You will receive your registration card within 2 – 3 weeks.

Make a Voting Plan and Be Prepared to Cast Your Ballot

  • Check your registration and/or register to vote by the deadline
  • Learn about early voting options, day-of voting options, and absentee voting below 
  • Research candidates

Your Sample Ballot: You can go to SCVotes.gov to print out your sample ballot for your county. Your sample ballot will contain the offices and the candidates for which you will be eligible to vote for in this election. Mark up your ballot and take it with you to the polls when you vote. 

How can I find out about candidates? There are several sources that can help.

  • At VOTE411.org, you can read candidates’ answers to questions about their background and their views on public issues.
  • Visit the candidate’s website for information on issues they support.
  • Attend a Candidate Forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Oconee and Pickens Counties (LWVOP). Several forums will be held in October 2026. Check our website at LWVOP.org for updates.  
  • Watch televised candidate debates.

Know who you are voting for and why. Research your candidates.

What do I need to bring to vote in person?  Acceptable Photo IDs include:

  • SC Driver's License - includes standard license and REAL ID
  • SC Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card - includes standard ID card and REAL ID & includes SC Concealed Weapons Permit
  • SC Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID - Includes all Dept of Defense Photo IDs and Veterans Affairs Benefits Card
  • US Passport - Includes US Passport ID Card

When can I vote?

1. ON ELECTION DAY, November 3

The election will be held at polling places throughout the county from 7 am to 7 pm. You can locate your polling place by calling your county election office — Pickens County at 864.898.5948 or Oconee County at 864.638.4196. You may also look it up online at SCVotes.gov by selecting “Check Your Voter Registration”, which will display your designated polling location.

You should always confirm your polling place with an official source, 
since locations can occasionally change.

2. EARLY VOTING - no reason required: 

Dates to Vote Early in Person for the Statewide General Election.
Monday, October 19 – Saturday, October 31 (Closed Sunday, October 25), 8:30 am – 6 pm
Visit SCVotes.gov to confirm your Early Voting Centers as they can change.

3. ABSENTEE BALLOT.

If you have an “excuse,” you can vote absentee by mail. Excuses include being age 65+, unable to vote in person during the early voting period or on Election Day and there are others. For a complete list of “excuses” and the latest information about absentee voting, visit SCVotes.gov.

Start that process immediately. Contact your Board of Elections and Voter Registration office – Pickens County, 864.898.5948; Oconee County, 864-638-4196. You may request an application by phone, mail, or in person. October 23rd is the deadline to apply for an Absentee Ballot. Voting absentee by mail requires several steps. Act fast to make sure you can complete all the steps and get your ballot submitted on or before November 3.

Step 1:  Get your application

  • You can submit your request for an application as early as January 1 of the election year.
  • Call, visit or send your request by U.S. mail to your county voter registration office.
  • You must provide your name, date of birth and last four digits of your Social Security Number.
  • You will be mailed an application.
  • For more information on how Immediate Family Members and Authorized Representatives can request a voter’s application, visit SCVotes.gov.

Step 2:  Complete, sign and return the application

  • Return the application by U.S. mail or personal delivery to your county voter registration office as soon as possible.
  • The deadline to return your application is 5:00 p.m. on the 11th day prior to the election.

Step 3:  Receive your absentee ballot in the mail

  • Voters who have applied early will be mailed their absentee ballot approximately 30 days before the election.

Step 4:  Vote and return the ballot
